From the Desk of Mat Staver;
Liberty Counsel Action.
State judiciaries, legislatures, and governors are entangled in a “gay” mess caused by the Supreme Court’s recent rulings striking down parts of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and remanding California’s Proposition 8 back to the trial court.
Frankly, the state of marriage law nationwide is in horrible confusion and has become a huge problem to state administrations. This devastation is what can be expected when self-centered bullies force their will on society!
We are bringing Marriage Solidarity, including help with litigation when necessary, to these embattled states!
Pennsylvania state law defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman and the Keystone State refuses to recognize same-sex “marriages” performed in other states.
Governor Tom Corbett has declared that he will enforce the state’s law until it is duly changed by the Pennsylvania legislature. Attorney General Kathleen Kane, on the other hand, does not endorse the state’s law and this causes real confusion for Pennsylvania administrators.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is also wading through a quagmire caused by the High Court’s recent DOMA ruling because there are serious differences between his administration’s view (pro-marriage) and the Court’s rulings.
Christie has recommended a ballot initiative to resolve the issue but pro-homosexual activists are pushing for a faster solution.
“Judicial fiat” like that exhibited by the Supreme Court on the recent marriage cases always causes confusion and division in lower jurisdictions!
Similar scenarios of legal battles to undo state laws protecting natural marriage are being fought in Virginia, Illinois, Nevada, Oregon, and Hawaii. Laws are beginning to be challenged in Arkansas, Mississippi, and North Carolina.
In fact, pro-homosexual strategists have placed twelve states squarely in their crosshairs for “change” in 2013-2014.
The offices of the governors of these states will be soon be hearing from Liberty Counsel Action (over 37,000 of us so far) through our powerful Marriage Solidarity petition and campaign!
Liberty Counsel Action will battle the disastrous pro-homosexual agenda in the federal and state legislatures, in federal and state courts, and in the courts of public opinion!
Now is the time for Americans who are concerned about the moral collapse in our nation to rise up and take action by standing for marriage!
Our powerful Marriage Solidarity Statement declares that the Christian community will stand in solidarity on this vital issue. Redefining marriage is a line we cannot and will not cross!
We will soon be delivering these petitions to state governors and the United States Congress in support of a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman!
We refuse to surrender to the demands of pro-homosexual activists!
It is now clear that the best way for the people in America to have a voice in marriage is to exercise their right under the Constitution to enshrine marriage once and for all as being reserved for natural marriage.
As a result of the High Court’s recent rulings, Congressman Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) declared that he would stand in defense of traditional marriage by introducing a Federal Marriage Amendment. Here’s the key portion of his bill…
“Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.”
We stand in support of this Federal Marriage Amendment effort and we stand in Marriage Solidarity with Americans believers who are boldly proclaiming, “Marriage cannot be turned into a profane mockery of what God made it to be”!
We need every friend possible to join this effort! Please go here to sign this vital statement, which will endorse a Federal Marriage Amendment to our Constitution.
God bless you for standing with us!
