Reaction to President Donald Trump’s decision to exit the Iran nuclear deal has been extremely polarized.
Those leaders in favor of ending the agreement heaped praise on the President.
A member of Israel’s Knesset compared President Trump to Winston Churchill and referred to the president as one of Israel’s greatest allies.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised President Trump’s decision calling it a “bold decision.” He added:
“Israel has opposed the nuclear deal from the start because we said that rather than blocking Iran’s path to a bomb, the deal actually paves Iran’s path to an actual arsenal of nuclear bombs and this within a few years time.
“The removal of sanctions under the deal has already produced disastrous results.”
Original deal crafters Barack Obama and John Kerry, both of whom were working with world leaders to undermine President Trump’s efforts, panned the President’s decision calling it “damaging.”
And, as expected, Iran’s leadership was up in arms. Angry Iranian lawmakers burned a US flag yesterday in the country’s parliament and chanted “Death to America.”
As reported by CBS, “Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a televised address that he has ordered the foreign minister to negotiate with the other countries that remain in the nuclear deal. He also warned there was only a short time to negotiate with them and that his country could soon ‘start enriching uranium more than before.’
+ + Israel in squarely on the crosshairs
In the original Iran nuclear agreement, the Obama administration outrageously handed Iran a pallet of cash that is now being used to extend Iranian influence in Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as support terror groups Hizballah, Hamas, the Taliban, and al-Qa’ida.
Right now in Syria, Iran has missiles in place targeting Israel. Incredibly, the development of missiles with conventional warheads was never prohibited by the the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), aka the Iran nuclear deal.
To understand more of the history of the Middle East region, the nature of Islam and their ongoing conflict with Israel, Christians in Defense of Israel is offering the book “Why Islamists Hate Israel.”
This fascinating survey of modern Israel’s founding reviews the tragic story of Arab rejection of Israel. And it exposes the Jew-hatred embedded in Islam – the one factor that, more than anything else, makes true and lasting Middle East peace all but impossible to achieve.
Gain perspective and valuable insight into the Arab-Israeli conflict when you read “Why Islamists Hate Israel.”
The next 5 days will be a time of jubilant celebration mixed with intense caution.
This weekend, Hamas “March of Return” protestors will return for another expected round of violent, possibly deadly, protests at the Gaza-Israel border fence where scores have already died.
May 14 will be the 70th anniversary of Israel’s independence, first announced on that day in 1948 by David Ben-Gurion. That same day, the U.S. will finally, after 70 years, open its embassy in Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Israel.
The next day Palestinians will vent their outrage on “Nakba Day,” an annual protest of the “catastrophe”–as Palestinians call it–of the creation of modern Israel. On that day, Israeli forces will be attempting to hold back a planned charge on the border fence by terrorists masked as protestors.
All while Israel is on high alert because Iran has vowed revenge for strikes attributed to Israel on Iranian military installations and missile caches inside Syria.
