Today, the Senate is expected to vote on the proposed tax overhaul. While GOP leadership believe they have enough votes for passage, several sticking points remain for three senators. Here is why the tax package is in jeopardy of passage, as reported by The Hill:
McConnell also could seek to win over Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) by eliminating the deduction big companies known as C corporations receive for state and local taxes."
Additionally, Senate Democrats are also using procedural hurdles to derail the bill in order to get it sent back to committee.
+ + Republican senators must hear from us TODAY.
This is an all-hands-on-deck call to action ahead of today's vote. Utilizing Liberty Counsel Action's Fax Barrage system, you can send our pre-written letters or craft one of your own. As Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wrote in a press release:
"First and foremost, the tax-reform proposal before us today is good for families….
Second, the plan is good for small businesses and job creators… It will also make it easier for other businesses to bring jobs and investments home.
And third, this legislation helps low- and middle-income families by repealing Obamacare's burdensome individual mandate tax. This is a good bill. And by overhauling our tax code, we can provide much-needed support to the men and women who sent us here."
As I have said before, the bill is not perfect, but it's the best tax reform initiative we've seen since the Reagan administration.
Yours for liberty,
P.S. Thank you to those of you who have already sent faxes. This is an all-hands-on-deck call to action.
