While that House action is a tremendous first step, there is far more work to be done to undo the damage the United Nations and the Obama administration are attempting to thrust on Israel before the President leaves office. That’s why I need you to join me now in making our collective voice heard loud and strong!
In a powerful bipartisan display of solidarity for Israel, the House voted 342-80 to pass H. Res. 11, a formal resolution that declares, in part:
“[T]he United States Government should oppose and veto future United Nations Security Council resolutions that seek to impose solutions to final status issues, or are one-sided and anti-Israel.” Another UN vote is anticipated on January 17th.
Many friends of Christians in Defense of Israel took the initiative yesterday to sign our I Stand With Israel petition and to launch faxes barraging Capitol Hill on behalf of this vital initiative. Thank you! Your support is invaluable while our long-term work is just beginning!
+ + Action needed in the Senate!
On Wednesday, Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) introduced a Senate Resolution, similar in language to the House Resolution.
In introducing the resolution, Sen. Rubio said,
Senator Cardin declared, “[T]he U.S.-Israel partnership is ironclad.”
Christians in Defense of Israel’s I Stand With Israel petition is calling for the passage of resolutions in both Chambers of Congress. If you haven’t already done so, click here to have your name automatically added to the petition!
+ + Defund the UN and cease aid to the nations supporting the UN resolution!
In the last days of his term, President Obama dishonored America’s strong support of Israel, insulted Jews and Christians by his shameful act, and shook his fist at the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
For the first time in 40 years, the United States did not stand by our strongest ally in the Middle East and allowed the United Nations to pass a harsh anti-Israel resolution that will purposefully ratchet up world pressure on Israel, give fresh momentum to the BDS movement, embolden terrorists, and encourage violence and bloodshed in the Middle East.
The UN’s anti-Israel resolution attacks the lone Middle East democracy and is reason enough, just by itself, to defund that anti-Israel organization. That’s why we are calling on friends of Israel to join us in petitioning Congress and the incoming Trump administration to cut off the United Nations and reduce or cut foreign aid to nations supporting the UN resolution!
God bless you. God bless America. And God bless Israel.
Mat Staver, President
Christians in Defense of Israel
P.S. There can be no lasting solution for peace until the Palestinian Authority and the Hamas government in Gaza recognize Israel’s right to exist. This dangerous UN resolution shows why you and I must make our voice heard on Israel’s behalf on Capitol Hill, in Israel, and in the United Nations. That’s why I am asking you to stand with Israel by adding your name to Christians in Defense of Israel’s petition now.
