The pendulum is swinging (CIDI)

The pendulum is swinging in the right direction for congressional passage of the Taylor Force Act. While that is positive news, we must keep strong pressure on members of Congress to ensure the bill gets passed and placed on President Trump’s desk for his signature. Please see my update below — Mat.

Dear Friend,

Last week, following the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s resounding endorsement of the Taylor Force Act, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced that he would co-sponsor the bill as it makes its way to the Senate for a full vote. The announcement of his support will certainly sway many fence-sitting Democrats and give the bill stronger bi-partisan support and a greater chance of passage.

In a press release, Minority Leader Schumer said of the Act, “President Abbas must be held accountable for the Palestinian Authority’s record of incitement and must stop subsidizing terror. It’s abhorrent that the Palestinian Authority provides payments to terrorists and families of those who have committed terrorist violence against Israelis and Americans and others. I am a proud co-sponsor of the Taylor Force Act because it aims to put an end to this disturbing practice, which only perpetuates the cycle of violence and undercuts the drive to peace. This bill will also honor the memory and sacrifice of Taylor Force.”

Other Democrats now on board and cosponsoring the measure include Ben Cardin (MD), Bob Menendez (NJ), Chris Coons (DE) and Bill Nelson (FL). The Senate will need 60 votes to advance the Act.

+ + No more money for murder!

The Senate version of the Taylor Force Act restricts U.S. economic aid to the West Bank and Gaza until the Palestinian Authority stops paying terrorists guilty of violence against Israelis and Americans.

As reported by The Times of Israel, “
The United States currently gives the PA nearly $500 million in aid annually. The legislation would allow only the portions designated for security assistance — roughly $60 million —and humanitarian aid to remain in place.”

The Palestinian Authority has now devoted almost half of its foreign “aid” money to rewarding acts of terror against Israelis and innocent bystanders, as was the case in the death of American war hero Taylor Force, for whom the bill is named.

We must send the message loud and clear:  No more money for murder! It’s time that the United States government STOP turning a blind eye to actions that are not only against international law and the Oslo Accord, but horrifically unconscionable.

Before our next petition delivery to the Senate, I encourage you to join with us in this vital pro-Israel initiative.

Now that the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has taken this much needed first step toward the passage of the Taylor Force Act, it’s past time for our lawmakers and the Trump administration to declare the Palestinian Authority a “terror-sponsoring organization” — and defund the PA until they verifiably cease their “Pay to Slay” payments, and stop inciting terror against the Israelis.

As of today, we need 6,000 more signatures to reach our first goal for the STOP TAXPAYER FUNDING OF PALESTINIAN TERRORISM AGAINST ISRAEL petition before we deliver the petition to key members of Congress. One click here and you’ll be automatically added to the petition.

God bless you.  God bless the USA. God bless Israel.

P.S. Growing Democrat support for the Taylor Force Act means the pendulum is swinging! The Taylor Force Act will restrict the supply of “aid” money to the Palestinian Authority. We cannot reward acts of terrorism like the one that tragically took the life of Taylor Force.

Our Capitol Hill liaison was in the Capitol representing us at the committee’s mark-up and vote on the Taylor Force legislation. We will be closely monitoring the bill’s progress as it makes its way through both chambers of Congress — and onto President Trump’s desk. “Pay to Slay” must end.

The Petition States:
I join with many other pro-Israel Americans in calling for the passage of the Taylor Force Act. The Palestinians must be held accountable for their egregious law that authorizes payments to individuals and their families who commit acts of terrorism against American and Israeli citizens. Economic aid must cease unless the Palestinian Authority stops its outrageous practice of rewarding terrorists and their families with financial aid. No more money for murder!
