I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend in front of you. Today in the Middle East, it’s another story.
The region is on edge now as Syria tenses for what could be a devastating strike from the U.S., along with our allies Britain and France. President Trump is threatening to punish Damascus for a brutal Syrian chemical weapon assault last Saturday that hit civilians, including women and children.
And Israel is on high alert, too. Tuesday it attacked an Iranian military installation inside Syria. The air attack “targeted Iran’s entire Syrian base drone weapon system,” the Times of Israel reports. It killed seven Iranian militants and the radical Islamic regime is vowing revenge.
+ + Netanyahu issues his own warning!
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu answered Iran’s tough talk with a warning of his own.
Speaking on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Netanyahu spoke clearly and left no doubt as to Israel’s resolve. He summarized Israel’s stance as “Steadfastness against aggression, steadfastness on defense, steadfastness on deterrence, steadfastness against anyone who threatens to destroy us.”
The prime minister recounted the lesson of Munich in 1938, when Britain appeased Hitler and opened the door to World War II.
“They sought to prevent war,” Netanyahu said, “but their concessions only brought war nearer.” The West’s failure to stop Hitler’s aggression “at an early stage made humanity pay later a far heavier price—60 million human beings were killed and murdered in the second world war, and among them six million of our own people.”
++ Israel has risen out of the ashes
But now, he said, “We have come upright out of the ashes. We have established a glorious country, a strong, a powerful, a progressive country, a thriving country.”
Each day in Israel, Netanyahu said, “is a real miracle.” And “God willing,” he added, “we will be here forever and ever.”
But Iran—along with other Islamic terror groups including Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, al Qaeda, and ISIS—is determined to annihilate the Jewish state. Just last year, the commander of Iran’s army declared Israel won’t exist in 25 years.
An American strike on Syria, which used chemical weapons on its own citizens last Saturday, may be imminent. Russia is warning it will shoot down American missiles if they’re fired. And Iran is threatening retaliation against Israel while Hamas vows to stage violent demonstrations along Israel’s southern border until May 15.

+ + Unique and exclusive opportunity to defend Israel on TV!
The return of the Jewish people to the land God promised them, and Israel’s rebirth as a nation in 1948 is a miracle, the fulfillment of prophecy, and part of His Story. The story of Israel’s miracle rebirth is one of the many fascinating accounts we tell in “Why Israel Matters,” an original 13-part series for television that aired last year on TBN to a national and international audience.
Now TBN is inviting us to produce and air a second season of this acclaimed and popular series filmed on location in Israel.
This is a unique and exclusive opportunity . . . but it won’t happen without you. At a time when Israel is demonized on the world stage, the real story about amazing, modern Israel needs to be told! And you can help make it happen!
God bless you. God bless Israel.
