The United Nations is using their Human Rights Council to target U.S.-based and other international firms conducting business in regions of Israel. The U.N.’s goal is to cripple the Israeli economy while advancing the Palestinian agenda. Here’s how:
In 2016, the UNHRC passed a resolution calling for countries to pressure companies to divest from, or break contracts with, Israel. Now, in a menacing letter, the UNHRC is planning to make public a “database” of corporations that conduct business in “occupied Palestinian territories” in so-called violation of “internal law and UN decisions.”
As reported by FoxNews, the letter sent in September “dictates that the company has 60 days to send “information or comments…confirming, clarifying or contesting” the U.N.’s account of the company’s business dealings in any area that the U.N. has decided is Arab territory.”
That database, due to be released by year’s end is, in effect a blacklist.
Because of the intimidation, some businesses have already indicated that they will cease their operations inside of Israel rather than be blacklisted internationally.
In a congressional response, the Israel Anti-Boycott Act was introduced earlier this year in both the House and Senate. The Act will help protect U.S. businesses and individuals from being pressured into an economic boycott of Israel by international governmental organizations, namely the U.N.
But, the bills are still stuck in two congressional committees!
+ + Congress must take action now!
We are calling on the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs to approve the Israel Anti-Boycott Act to protect American businesses from U.N. and international harassment.
The letter, itself, may have already frightened some companies away from Israel. According to Haaretz, “the Economy Ministry’s Office of Strategic Affairs has already received information that a number of companies who received the letters have responded to the human rights commissioner by saying they do not intend to renew contracts or sign new ones in Israel.”
The UNHRC’s actions are misleading, harmful, and potentially crippling to the Israeli economy.
That’s why we are calling on Congress and President Trump to PASS AND SIGN THE ISRAEL ANTI-BOYCOTT ACT. The UN’s aggression toward Israel must be reined in.
Thank you for taking action on behalf of American businesses and the nation of Israel!
God bless you,
