UN to blacklist U.S. businesses! (Christians in Defense of Israel)

July 5, 2018

A UN blacklist of firms, including U.S. companies, doing business in the so-called “occupied territories” may be published by September. That’s why it’s critical you and I urge Congress now to pass the Israel Anti-Boycott Act. This bill is a vital safeguard for Israel and firms doing business in Israel’s disputed territories.

And this measure may come before the full House soon. That’s why I’m asking you to make your voice heard now.

The United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) is aggressively moving ahead with its updated database that blacklists American and international firms doing business with Israelis in the disputed West Bank, east Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights. Palestinian leaders are urging the UNHRC to expedite the release.

In 2016, the UNHRC passed a resolution calling for countries to pressure companies to divest from, or break contracts with, Israel. The “database” targets corporations that conduct business in the so-called “occupied Palestinian territories” in violation of “internal law and UN decisions” in order to blacklist the corporations.

The Commission’s goal is to support the BDS movement (boycott, divestment and sanctions), suppress business investment, and cripple the Israeli economy. All while advancing the Palestinian agenda.

The UNHRC has already identified 206 firms doing business with Israelis who live or work in the disputed regions. The database is an open threat designed to intimidate and scare businesses away.

+ + The U.S. will not cave to the UNHRC’s outrageous anti-Israel actions.

Last month, U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley announced the United States is leaving the U.N. Human Rights Council due to its “chronic bias” against Israel, among other factors. Haley called the UNHRC, “an organization that is not worthy of its name.”  Haley accused the council of being “a protector of human rights abusers and a cesspool of political bias…”

AND… doubling down against the UNHRC’s anti-Israel agenda, both chambers of Congress are considering the Israel Anti-Boycott Act. The Act “prohibits U.S. companies from participating in boycotts promoted by international organizations, like the U.N., that target U.S. partners, like Israel.”

The good news is, the bill is gaining traction. Last week, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs passed the Israel Anti-Boycott Act (H.R. 1967). The bill now goes to the full House for a vote.

+ + Congress must take action now!

We are calling on the House of Representatives to approve the Israel Anti-Boycott Act in order to protect American businesses from U.N. and international harassment.

Congressional action is needed before financial damage is done to American organizations conducting business in Israel and grave harm is done to the Israeli economy.

The fear of being internationally blacklisted has already caused some companies to cease or diminish their operations in Israel. According to Haaretz, these firms have said “they do not intend to renew contracts or sign new ones in Israel.”

The UN’s actions are misleading, harmful, and potentially crippling to the Israeli economy.

That’s why we are calling on Congress and President Trump to PASS AND SIGN THE ISRAEL ANTI-BOYCOTT ACT. The UN’s aggression toward Israel must be stopped!
