Dear Friend,

We have received reports from on the ground about shock setting in among the people of south Texas. Victims of Hurricane Harvey have witnessed unimaginable devastation from the destructive winds, unprecedented rainfall, and catastrophic flooding brought on by the once-Category 4 storm. What they have seen and experienced demands a loving, compassionate, and immediate response from fellow Americans like you and me.

Thousands of people in the Houston area had to be rescued from their homes by boats, helicopters, military amphibious vehicles, and even jet skis. More than 40 people are confirmed dead, and that number is expected to rise.

Clean-up and rebuilding will take months, if not years, at a current estimated cost of $190 billion. That’s higher than Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana in 2005.

Through our partnerships with Christ-centered relief organizations, Liberty Relief International (LRI) is empowering you to bless disaster victims in south Texas and Louisiana. I have already released emergency funds to one of our partners that has staff providing relief on the front lines of this horrific natural disaster.

But I want to do more. Much more. And that’s only possible with your help. Your financial and prayer support will make an immediate impact by sending a clear message to Harvey victims that they’re not alone.

Last week, LRI paused from our relief efforts on behalf of persecuted Christians in the Middle East to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. Like in the Middle East, we work with Christ-center partners that provide physical and spiritual relief to people in need.

On Friday, I spoke with the head of an LRI ministry partner working on the front lines in south Texas and Louisiana. He said this disaster is far worse than Katrina. The ministry has eight trucks on the ground now and plans to have 40 trucks reach the disaster area in the first 40 days. This outstanding front-line ministry also works through churches to provide spiritual support and follow up for victims.

I am very pleased with our ministry partner and their amazing, rapid response to the worst storm to hit the U.S. in a decade and the most powerful hurricane to strike Texas since 1961. Thank you, in advance, for showing love, compassion, and generosity to victims of Hurricane Harvey.

P.S. Black Mold is likely to become a big problem in the aftermath of Harvey and could cause serious health problems for many. It grows in small places, like electrical sockets and elsewhere, and is very hard to remove once it is established. Children infected with Black Mold can develop a serious infection, like bronchitis, that can cause lifelong health problems. My sister in Ft. Myers contracted Black Mold in her lungs after a hurricane caused water damage that was not properly repaired. Please help LRI get people in south Texas and Louisiana the help and supplies they desperately need.
